Take a tour of Metal Flower Sculpture in Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina - part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Near the National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina is an array of sculptures and monuments surrounding a reflecting pool. Floralis Generica is the most prominent feature, sitting in the pool and blooming towards the sky each day. When the sun rises, the six petals open to greet the day; when the sun goes down at night, the flower closes around its four pistons. The hydraulic-powered steel and aluminum sculpture was given to the city by Eduardo Catalo in 2002. The structure is massive, weighing 18 tons, and takes approximately twenty minutes to open and close. Red and green lights wash over the closed flower most nights, creating a stunningly natural and ethereal atmosphere.

In this video, B'sue demonstrates her technique for using 24 ga and 20 ga copper binding wire to connect beads and flower findings to filigree, which is actually a prelude to making cagework beaded jewelry. She will also string flower findings on wire as well as bind them, thereby making a vintage style wired brooch.
