Final day of the ECHO Chain Saw Carving Championship- part 1 (7am - noon) Video Clips. Duration : 9.93 Mins.
The sculptures in the ECHO Chain Saw Carving Competition have really taken form. Do you have a favorite? The ECHO team must complete their work by 4pm today. Judging takes place at 4pm. Will Bob King win for the 4th time? If you would like to read more about the judges and the criteria, visit the ECHO web site www.echo-usa.com. Results will be announed at 5pm and the live auction begins at 5:15 pm. All proceeds benefit the Make A Wish Foundation of New Mexico. A video summary will be posted later tonight.

eCountryLifestyle introduces you to Berry Williams who is primarily a wood whittler whos been whittling for more years than he cares to count. He claims not to be a wood carver, as being a wood carver requires having talent and expensive tools. Berry likes to whittle primarily using his pocket knife and a type of wood called Bass wood, which is reasonably firm and not very grainy. In this video he shows you how to make a Christmas Star using a more expensive Chip Carving knife, stressing you should always keep your knives super sharp and take your time to avoid accidents. If you like working with your hands and if you like working with wood, Berry recommends giving whittling a try, its a lot of fun!

Chainsaw Carving - Oak Log Bench Woodworking Project Video Clips. Duration : 4.48 Mins.
My next woodworking, or rather 'Chainsaw Carving' project: Making a log bench was next on my 'to-do' list. I had reserved two Oak logs for this project. Since I rarely get my hands on large logs I was forced to make the bench in pieces, bolting them together with stainless steel rods. An advantage is that the bench can be fully dismantled if you want to relocate it. The bad side is that you have A lot of individual pieces that you need to precise fit onto each other. The wood was still fairy green, so you had to take warping and shrinking into account as well. That took huge amounts of time (and frustration). Despite the troubles I am happy with the result. The color the Tung oil gives the wood is incredible and that moment made up for most of the frustrations. And to be fair, I again learned a lot of new techniques like burning lines with the angle grinder and steel cutting disks. Let me know what you think of it.
