Though her beginnings were as an engraver and painter, by the 1940s Louise Bourgeois had turned her attention to sculptural work for which she is now recognized as a twentieth-century leader. By the 1960s she began to execute her work in rubber, bronze, and stone, and the pieces themselves became more referential to themes of family, home and childhood. More on this programme: www.bbc.co.uk Kinetic sculptor and artist Theo Jansen builds 'strandbeests' from yellow plastic tubing that is readily available in his native Holland. The graceful creatures evolve over time as Theo adapts their designs to harness the wind more efficiently. They are powered only by the wind and even store some of the wind's energy in plastic bottle 'stomachs' to be used when there is no wind.

Sculpting Thor: A Preview of Upcoming Workshop Tube. Duration : 6.93 Mins.

www.zbrushworkshops.com Just wanted to share with you a preview of an upcoming workshop I'm doing called Sculpting Thor. This workshop will document the process of sculpting Thor in a neutral pose as well as sculpting a posed digital maquette. In this preview of the workshop, I speed up about an hour and half long section of the workshop to give you an overall view of this topology-free and intuitive sculpting process. One of the great things about this workflow is that I use Mannequins to quickly pose the character then simply remesh the mannequin to create sculptable geometry. Another great thing I like is that it uses Trim Dynamic (pressing ALT) to quickly build planes and major forms. ZBrush is getting closer and closer to a completely organic and natural sculpting tool and workflows like are what free our artistic impulses to get in and start creating.
